My name is Bénédicte Barrett. I am an illustrator based in Plymouth, South West of England.
I was lucky to grow up in a farm in France, Loire Valley, where my playground was nature, which probably contributed to develop my environmental self-awareness. I studied and graduated in Illustration in Plymouth College of Art not long after I had my first child. Before being an illustrator, I was a Primary school teacher specialised in bilingual education. This is one reason why I first moved to England, London, to teach in a French bilingual school where I also met my fencing coach who later became my husband! My family has grown since I became an illustrator, giving birth to sweet twin girls. Life is full of surprises! I like creating digital illustrations and adding patterns, textures and pencil effects. I love illustrating scenes, cityscapes and maps. I also enjoy working around concepts to create striking images that contribute to raise environmental awareness. Apart from illustrating, I still enjoy teaching and creating educational content for digital learning. I am passionate about bilingualism and the process of acquiring a new language. I love learning new creative skills. More recently, I started to use authoring tools allowing me to produce engaging content for learners. |
